Standard ubuntu install is no more able to produce pdf from math manual due to missing mathtools.sty.
Not sure how much is this package exotic or it's just my install at my institute.

That said, it works just fine on gentoo where mathtools.sty is part of texlive-latexrecommended-2012
so most probably only debian/ubuntu packagers need to add additional package dependency.

Otherwise I don't see any other problem except that's time to leave homes and
screens for the full eclipse now!

On my local ubuntu install it is OK, but I agree it needs to be put in
dependencies.

This prompted my to look at Math.lyx and notice that all/most tabulars
use \raisebox in ERT to produce proper spacing. Moreover, they use ugly
plain tabulars that no book in prints would ever use.

Therefore I tried to see what happens if I just use a formal table (see
attached). Is there a reason why we should keep the current form?

Hello Vincent,

I found now the time to implement the 3 most urgent things we discussed:
www.lyx.org/trac/changeset/62cbf893d2341543c37ed210fce5ac5ac9176b8a/lyxgit

I built a new installer with that for LyX 2.1.0, you can get it from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/lyxwininstaller/files/LyXWinInstaller/2.1.0/

I would recommend to put that installer on ftp.lyx.org and remove my first version because with the
new installer one can install LyX 2.1.0 over an existing LyX 2.1 beta or RC.
For beta versions this is not recommended as these were not adapted correctly in the registry but
for RC1 installing over it works fine here on 2 test PCs (Win XP and Win 7 64bit). However, I guess
who installed a beta would also have installed an RC and the installer for the RC forced a
reinstallation of LyX.

thanks and regards

Packages for Fedora are available at the updates-testing for F19 and F20 (and rawhide aka devel).

The same packages can be built for EPEL 6 and 7. (Fedora repository for RHEL 6 and RHEL 7).

Dumb question no doubt, but what is the purpose of the .sig file? Is this related to codesigning?

Yes. We have paragraph about this in download section of our web.

It helps to ensure that the file's contents has not been changed by someone else than
by the one owing private key. You might know about the cases when attackers get into
ftp infrastructure of some projects and added backdoors to the code released. This
helps until they also succesfully hack into computers of the people who do the releases ;)

But it's not the key for Apples gatekeeper code signing.

Mac binaries may come as singed executables with an key
compiled in to ensure it's from a known and legitimate
apple developer and that it's contents was not modified
on the way from the "work bench" to the end user.

That's the same idea but the developer has to pay for it.

Hi! When are you going to announce the release? In a few weeks we're
going to have the fourth LyX Workshop here at POuL and we are willing
to present LyX 2.1, however it's a problem if the official download
page still offers LyX 2.0.7.

Hi Alessandro,

It is supposed to be today, I think.
